Reset is blessed with amazing talent! Week-in and week-out, there are amazingly talented people on stage, leading us in worship. There are incredibly committed people behind the scenes, running sound, lights and computers. There are great people helping set-up chairs and fill communion trays. I love the people that God has blessed us with!
But, as blessed as we are with “talent,” we have an even greater resource to spread the Kingdom with… A whole family of people connected by this common thread: We’ve been adopted as sons and daughters by an incredible Father.
“From [Christ] the whole BODY, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16)
A church built around a great band or centered around a great leader or revolving around a great “service” will never be as healthy as a church that empowers its people. Kingdom success is not defined by individual effort.
That’s precisely why we believe Soma will reach the potential that Reset always dreamed of. Reset has always been built around the concept that a great worship experience will grow a great community of believers. A core philosophy has always been “people are drawn to quality.” With that thought, the goal was to produce the absolute greatest quality of worship possible.
Quality in worship is important – the Creator of the entire universe deserves our best effort in worship – but simply producing a quality worship service severely edits and cripples the call that God placed on His Church. The Church exists to be a BODY that worships together, experiences authentic community and lives on mission to affect the broader world.
Soma (which is, by the way, the Greek word for “body”) will build on the foundation that Reset has laid. Quality worship will always be an expression of our faith. And on top of the foundation, we will build transformative community and intentional mission. And together, we will build the Kingdom up in love, as each of us do our part.
Soma will be launching on Sunday mornings at 10:35 am soon after the upcoming New Year. Please be praying for our leaders, our BODY, our community and for the possibility that God is calling you to partner with us in some way. I can’t wait to see what 2012 is going to bring!
And, because I mentioned some of our amazing talent earlier, here’s a video of the Reset band with Dale Fetters leading for the first time. Dale joined Reset a couple weeks ago and it was awesome! Make sure you check out the video…
