“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” -Psalm 63:1
Sometimes, it just doesn’t make sense to sing about how great God is when it seems like nothing is going very great for you. The rougher things get, the less you feel like praising God’s goodness.
But here’s the secret…
The more you worship God, the more you WANT to worship God.
You won’t wake up one morning with a spontaneous wish to worship, but you will develop a habit that your heart will begin to crave. The longer you decide to worship in your mind, the more you’ll begin to worship in your heart.
So if you’ve been ‘feeling’ farther away from God than you’d like or you’ve been noticing that something’s different than it used to be, try spending some time in worship. Sing, pray, read, meditate.
It might not be what you want, but it’s probably what you need.
